If you’re looking for information about stuff, you know you’re going to go to SF Signal. With JP Frantz, John DeNardo brings the world the SFy goodness that is SF Signal. Here he takes some time to take part in a non-violent, calorie-heavy drive-by.
1. SF Signal is 7 years old – how did it all begin?
In 2003, JP Frantz and I decided it was worth experimenting with this newfangled blog craze. Since we both liked science fiction (and speculative fiction in general) we launched SF Signal as a way to share news and reviews and other cool stuff. Although it was public to anyone, we realized it was mainly ourselves that were reading it. But then other people stopped by and kept coming back and our readership grew … and grew … and grew again … Honestly, if it weren’t for the people we meet and interact with, we probably wouldn’t be doing it.
2. Dracula -v- Wonder Woman: discuss.
Clearly Wonder Woman would win in any battle against Dracula. Not only is she a trained athlete/warrior who can undoubtedly best the Count in hand-to-hand combat, but she is also quick enough to put her indestructible Amazonian bracelets between her neck and Dracula’s teeth. Drac denied! Not to mention she could tie up Dracula in her lasso and use her invisible plane (which is much faster than any bat, mind you) to drop him off wherever there’s sunlight.
3. What draws you to spec-fic?
Speculative fiction exercises my imagination in ways that no other form of fiction can. Is there any greater high than expanding your mind?
4. You get to be invisible for one day – no consequences as long as you don’t leave fingerprints – where do you go and what do you do?
I think I might spy on Harriet Klausner to see how many books she *actually* reads.
5. Donuts or danishes?
I guess donuts, since I’ve eaten more of them in my lifetime than danishes. Muffins are good too; they are mankind’s perfect excuse to eat cake in the morning. (Fwiw, bagels trump them all. So there.)
